When preparing your favorite meals with Thermomix®, some food may catch and burn on the base of the Thermomix mixing bowl. Information on why this may happen, and ways to minimize the chances of it happening are listed below.
All Thermomix recipes are tested multiple times to ensure the best cooking experience with excellent results, every time. As we are continuously working on making your experience even better, it is important that you always run the latest version of the Thermomix software.
To prevent food catching and burning:
Follow the exact recipe and place the ingredients into the mixing bowl in the order they are listed in the recipe. Any variation to the steps or ingredients will lead to a different or poor experience.
Use the exact ingredient as written in the recipe.
We are aware that some ingredients may differ from region to region, for example sausages, but always try to use the ingredient recommended in the recipe.
Leave onions or vegetables in large pieces when cooking high temp. recipes Thermomix®. Avoid chopping into smaller pieces until cooked.
Normally, vegetables are placed into the Thermomix mixing bowl in 2-3 cm pieces. Anything smaller may result in ingredients getting stuck under the mixing knife, becoming too hot and burning. Juices from the vegetables may also brown.
Add lemon juice with all Sugar Stages recipes.
Lemon juice or citric acid prevent crystallization and help avoid burnt caramel. (Please note: the presence of lemon juice is always included as a step in the relevant recipes.)
What to do if food burns on the base of the Thermomix® mixing bowl
Do not worry, following these simple steps will help you to clean the bowl again:
- Place 500 g water in mixing bowl and add ½ tsp dishwasher powder detergent or half a dishwasher tablet. (NB: liquid dishwasher detergent does not have the same effect).
- Heat 15 min/Varoma/speed soft.
- Leave to cool down for 15 minutes then run Pre-clean mode.
- Brush or scrub with a green pad, then rinse.
The residues should now come off quite easily.
