The best thing to do is to mark the edges of the surfaces using heavy obstacles, such as bottles of water. You can then connect the obstacles (gray areas) together on the floor plan later on using no-go lines.
How can I mark surfaces like rugs on the floor plan? They will not appear on the floor plan because they are not obstacles.
